Puducherry Industrial Promotion Development And Investment Corporation (Pipdic)

The Puducherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC) was set up by the Government of Puducherry in 1974 with the primary objective of promoting the industrial development of Puducherry. This Corporation was started with a view to boost up industrial activities of the Union Territory of Puducherry. It plays an important role in the promotion and development of Industries in this Union Territory. To Cope with the increased industrial development and to facilitate the entrepreneurs to set up their industrial units, the corporation will develop new industrial estates with all infrastructural facilities besides extending financial assistance to them. The Corporation provides Term loan for the purchase of Machinery, Construction/Purchase of building equipment for setting up of Industries in the Union Territory. It has a branch Office at Karaikal also. The Corporation has set up Industrial Estate at 3 places viz. Mettupalayam, Kirumambakkam and Sedarapet. The Corporation assists the entrepreneurs in marketing products. It is a limited company and provides facilities like Equity participation / Underwriting of Capital issues. And also acting as the Implementing agency for Setting up of Growth Centre at Polagam, Integrated Infrastructural Development at Sedarapet, Export Processing Zone at Sedarapet, Electronic Industrial Estate at Thirubhuvannai, Information Technology Part at Kalapet. It has been decided to incorporate a Housing Finance Company with the aim of providing housing loans to the public at comparatively lessor rate of interest. The proposed company will be a subsidiary of PIPDIC, with Puducherry Housing Board and Government of Puducherry as the other co-promoters.
